It was too hard to scale it down to just one favorite gem, so I thought it'd be easier to just make a small gallery of my favorites. I can't really pick just one flower...I'm going to start off with two different types of moonflower. This should seem obvious, I mean look at the name of this blog. The first moonflower is the non-toxic Ipomea alba. As a child, I grew up with these at my bedroom window. As I've gotten older, I've gained an appreciated for banes, and have learned about Datura inoxia, also known as moonflower. As you can see, these are very similar to one another.
Having a favorite tree is very difficult for me. I grew up in rural areas with many different trees. I love the large white flowers of the magnolia. On my family's land, red oaks were planted for every male child born into the family... ...and pecans for every female. Of course, I love willows too. They grow by the water and I've talked about my affinity for streams, creeks, and rivers.
I'm definitely an Autumn gal. While spring brings hope and promise, autumn will always have a special place in my heart; having grown up in the south, autumn was the start of a much-needed respite from the intense heat and humidity of the summer. I love the Autumn Equinox and Samhain as well, as it's brings with it a time for reflection and remembrance. The leaves changing, the rain cooling the golden harvest moon, and pumpkin spice; what's not to love?
By my zodiac sign (Pisces) my element is water, and I feel that I present many of the typical traits of a water sign; however, I feel a very strong call to flame as well, which is interesting as there isn't much fire in my chart; only my Jupiter and Venus have fire, and it's the same sign both times; Aries.
I don't have a favorite pantheon necessarily; however, the one I know the most about is the Greek/Roman Pantheon. I especially like Athena/Minerva and Hestia/Vesta.
I don't have a dedicated patron deity, but I feel most drawn toward the Antlered One.I feel like he's somewhat bigger than a god, more ancient and primordial.
I have a goddess that I feel calls to me. Her name is Belisama, and I did the 30 Days' Worth of Deity Devotion Challenge for her.
